About Us
Background
The Business Leadership Council of Wellesley College was formed in 1989 by a small group of alumnae who shared a common bond based on their acknowledged positions of executive leadership and a Wellesley education. Recognizing the leadership preparation they received from Wellesley, the Business Leadership Council was formed with the intent to give back to the College, its constituents, and the wider community through the unique talents of its members.
The founders believed that, acting collectively, this group of alumnae business leaders (both for-profit and non-profit), could contribute their special gifts more effectively on behalf of Wellesley, while at the same time providing friendship and support to each other. The BLC is dedicated to excellence in education; to leadership, empowerment and opportunity for all women; to lifelong learning; and to service to the College and to society.
Mission Statement
The Business Leadership Council of Wellesley College is a by-invitation association of Wellesley alumnae who are senior leaders in the business and non-profit sectors. The mission of the BLC is to use our individual and collective skills, experience, knowledge, and resources to:
-
Support Wellesley College in its mission to educate women who will make a difference in the world;
-
Support Wellesley students in acquiring the skills and experience necessary to their development as leaders;
-
Support each other in our own development as leaders;
-
Serve as ambassadors for the College.
