Letter from the Co-Chairs

December 8, 2011

Dear BLC members,

Happy holidays!  On behalf of the entire 2012 BLC board, we are delighted to kick off what is certain to be a productive and enjoyable year.  In particular, we look forward to finding more, new, and better ways to engage you in BLC initiatives, projects, and events.  Although we all lead very busy lives, every contribution—from time and skills to ideas and news—is welcome and valued.

With regard to engagement, we are already off to a great start.  Thanks to the inspired leadership of Plenary Co-chairs Karen Bratt and Cindy Reed, more than 80 BLCers were able to learn about and reconnect with Wellesley today, while exploring how BLC members can become better ambassadors for the College. A  follow-up survey and fuller report will be coming soon.

We are also thrilled to launch the new BLC website http://www.wellesleyblc.org, a year-long undertaking led by Denise Brosseau and Linda Guild. We love the fresh and visual look, the new logo, and being greeted by photos of members and events. It helps convey the essence of the BLC: a lively community of remarkable Wellesley alumnae who are making a difference in the world and supporting one another and the College. Special thanks to Denise for the great design and implementation.

Importantly, the new website is also highly flexible and easy to use and update.  It will immediately improve our ability to stay informed about the BLC and Wellesley; help us connect with each other; and facilitate event registration and financial transactions. Check out the BLC-at-a-Glance home page; the new member photos; the expanded Resources section (including links to BLCers who twitter —what’s yours?); and Plenary highlights and photos, including a graphic recording (bottom of the front page) that captured our strategic conversation about how we can spread Wellesley’s message in the world.

Yet, the website is also a work in progress (newsletters/briefs coming soon, for example). It’s the first step in a more robust technology strategy, so please try it out and let the web committee (Denise, Linda, and Nancy Murphy) know what works and doesn’t and what additional information and functionality you’d like to see.  While there, please update your profile including your Board interests. And if you have forgotten your log-in or password, you can reset it here or contact Linda Guild.

In January, we’ll provide a more detailed overview of ourplans and priorities for 2012. In the interim, have a wonderful holiday season, enjoy the new website, and keep in touch!

Warmest wishes,

Nancy Murphy, co-chair
